1Popular sports are played all over the world. Every country has its favourite sport. But there are also unusual sports with strange and interesting rules. Here are the top five unusual sports.
2Winter swimming In the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island in New York City, people go swimming from October to April and on New Year's Day. The water can be as cold as 0 °C. Many people believe that cold water swimming is good for your health. The club started in 1903.
3Dragon boat race In Singapore, you can see the dragon boat race. The boats are traditional Chinese boats with a painted dragon's head. There are 22 people in each boat. This sport is popular in China, Malaysia and Indonesia.
4Caber toss The caber toss is an ancient Scottish sport. People compete by throwing a large piece of wood – a caber – as far as they can. The caber has no official size or shape, but it is usually the size of a small tree.
5In Indonesia, students play a game to welcome Ramadan. The game is similar to football. The ball is made from coconut shells. Players pour salt on themselves and then set the ball on fire. They play with their bare¹ feet throughout the game.
6Camel wrestling² In Turkey, camel wrestling is a very old sport. The largest competition takes place in Ephesus every year. Two male camels wrestle. Sometimes they run through the crowds, which can be dangerous.
